Gaga Discusses Her Struggles and Connection to Fans in Rolling Stone

The new issue of Rolling Stone, on stands May 27th, includes an in-depth cover story on Lady Gaga by writer Brian Hiatt, who was given intimate, fly-on-the wall access to the pop superstar as she played the final dates of her Monster Ball Tour and put the finishing touches on her new album Born This Way. “When I am not onstage I feel dead,” she says. “Whether that is healthy or not to you, or healthy or not to anyone, or a doctor, is really of no concern to me. I don’t feel alive unless I’m performing, and that’s just the way I was born.”
In the story, Gaga reveals that she’s recently derived a lot of inspiration from an unlikely source: Rocky IV. “My favorite part is when Apollo’s ex-trainer says to Rocky, ‘He is not a machine. He’s a man. Cut him, and once he feels his own blood, he will fear you.’ I know it sounds crazy, but I was thinking about the machine of the music industry. I started to think about how I have to make the music industry bleed to remind it that it’s human, it’s not a machine.”

Lady Gaga has topped Forbes’ annual Celebrity 100 list, which ranks the richest and the most powerful celebrities in the world. The queen of pop replaces Oprah Winfrey, who has held the title for more than four years.
Gaga tops the list not just because of the $90 million she earned with the Monster Ball tour, but also thanks to her 32 million Facebook fans and 10 million Twitter followers.

“Marry the Night” Released on GagaVille

Lady Gaga has released yet another track from Born This Way, due out May 23rd. The track is “Marry the Night” and is the first of 3 songs to be released on the popular online game, FarmVille. Last week it was announced that Gaga teamed up with Zynga to exclusively release track from her album via FarmVille, alternatively titled GagaVille for this special partnership.
Other songs set to be released are “Fashion of His Love” and “Electric Chapel”.

Lady Gaga has released a new promotional single. The RedOne-produced “Hair” premiered on iTunes moments ago as a part of the countdown to Born This Way, which hits stores around the world in exactly one week.
“The song is one of my favorites on the album,” said Gaga. “It’s a really uptempo club record with a Bruce Springsteen vibe to it. I had Clarence Clemons come in from the E Street Band and play saxophone on the record. It has this KISS, Iron Maiden to the melody.”

Lady Gaga Swaps Music for Media, Edits Metro Paper

Flamboyant pop star Lady Gaga ditched the music and switched to the media on Monday with a stint as a guest editor at the London headquarters of the global free newspaper network Metro. Widely regarded as the world’s biggest pop star, the 25-year-old New Yorker has also been busy promoting her second full-length studio album “Born This Way” which is available in stores on May 23rd.
Gaga arrived at Metro’s offices wearing pink hair in a beehive style, black high heels, fishnet stockings and a black brassiere-like top. “I’m sorry if my business attire is a little different” she joked as she shook hands with staff.
Gaga took charge of the morning editorial meeting, offering her opinion on a range of topics from bullying to the Japan earthquake to who her heroes are. She immediately set out her vision for the paper in her role as guest editor for the day, touching on themes she has already mentioned as part of her mission as an entertainer.
“I feel so privileged I get to make music every day,” she told staff. “If you have revolutionary potential you have a moral obligation to make the world a better place.”
Her new record is the follow-up to her 2008 debut album “The Fame”, which went on to sell more than 12 million copies and topped the charts. An extended play release “The Fame Monster” came out the following year.
Gaga has a huge and famously devoted fanbase around the world whom she calls her “little monsters”. In turn she refers to herself as “Mother Monster” whose every public appearance is a piece of performance art and outlandish fashion statement rolled into one, turning her into a cultural phenomenon as much as a musician. “I really appreciate the opportunity and it’s a wonderful chance for me to show the world that little monsters are not just a fan thing, but exist outside the music world altogether,” Gaga said of her editing activities at Metro.

Lady Gaga has premiered her new song “The Edge of Glory.” The Fernando Garibay-produced track was released on Monday as a part of the countdown to Gaga’s forthcoming album Born This Way, due in stores on May 23rd. Prior to the release, the singer revealed that the song is about “your last moment on earth, the moment of truth.”

Lady Gaga to Mentor American Idol Top Four

Lady Gaga will appear on American Idol next week to mentor the remaining four finalists, it has been announced. The singer will join her record label boss Jimmy Iovine in guiding the contestants before their live performances Wednesday night. Later this month, Gaga herself will take the Idol stage to perform a song from her upcoming album Born This Way, in stores May 23rd.
